Our Technology

Retinal Imaging

Retinal imaging using ultra-wide field technology allows the doctors to check your internal ocular health. Not only will the imaging allow the doctors to track changes over time, but it will also allow you to see what they see during the exam. Systemic conditions including diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), elevated cholesterol, and anemia can manifest in the eye. Retinal imaging will allow our doctors to diagnose this early so damage to the eye can be prevented in the future.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive test that takes cross-sectional images of your retina. Some eye conditions can only be seen using OCT. OCT allows the doctors to see through the different layers of the retina and determine how deep into the retina an eye condition may be affecting you. The OCT also can scan the thickness of the nerve fiber layer of the optic nerve to check for signs of Glaucoma. Detection of early changes in the optic nerve can prevent irreversible vision loss in the future.

Visual Field Testing

Visual Field Testing using virtual reality technology allows us to test your peripheral vision. Conditions affecting the optic nerve and the brain can cause peripheral vison loss. Peripheral vision loss can go undetected due to our brain’s ability to fill in the information even though it’s not there. Early loss in vision can be detected in just a few minutes!

Corneal Topography.jpg

Corneal Topography

Corneal topography is a non-invasive device that maps the curvature of the cornea (the front surface of the eye). Corneal topography highlights any irregular surfaces and helps us diagnose keratoconus and other forms of corneal ectasia (thinning).

Meibography

The meibomian glands are oil glands in the eyelids. Oil from the meibomian glands help keep the tear film on the eye. The absence of healthy meibomian glands can be one of the factors in dry eye syndrome. Meibography images the meibomian glands which helps doctors diagnose the cause of dry eye and treat it properly.
